The truth is, renting a downtown apartment, whether it is a luxury loft or a small unit in a high rise, can be an excellent investment. The gym
If you live in the center of the action, the one thing that you do without thinking about it is to walk. You may have to walk down long hallways or up several flights of stairs to get to your apartment. You will likely have to walk on downtown streets in order to get to grocery stores, your car, or restaurants when you are going out. If you live downtown and have the ability to walk to most of your favorite places and stores, you can cut out the need for a gym bill.
Gas and maintenance bills
Most downtown areas are set up with public transportation or they are set up to easily connect to the highway and other exits. Cars tend to get better gas mileage on highways, meaning that you can spend less on gas. Highways with smooth roads are also less likely to cause damage to your vehicle. If your city has an extensive public transit system, you may be able to skip having a car at all. If you work near downtown, you can sell your car and buy a transit pass in order to get around the city.
Bill payment
If you are located in a large downtown area, there is a high likelihood that you are surrounded by offices such as public utility offices, banks, and other financial institutions. It is common for some utility companies to charge to pay bills online or to make utility payments over the phone. By living downtown, you can walk from your apartment to a utility office to pay and avoid any extra payment fees.
Entertainment plans
Living downtown means that you never get bored. Whereas you may have to make prior arrangements to see a movie, go to dinner, or otherwise entertain yourself when you live in the suburbs, living downtown means you can entertain yourself easily. Just walking outside of your house will put you near parks, free recreation, like art shows, and a number of street entertainers in very large cities. You can easily entertain yourself just walking outside of your apartment and enjoying your city.
